At a time when we are surrounded by an overwhelming abundance of education and training opportunities, both online and offline, I believe that what truly makes a workshop stand out is a design tailored to its participants. For a facilitator who genuinely believes in their work, a workshop does not begin in the room where it takes place; it begins much earlier.
In my approach, regardless of the group I am working with—educators, parents, artists, or professionals from different fields seeking to develop their storytelling skills—a successful workshop, meaning one that is both effective and enjoyable, is built on two essential elements:
a) a thorough understanding of the particular characteristics of each group of children or adults I am invited to work with; and
b) the design and continuous redesign of the workshop according to the specific expectations and needs of each group.
After all, what greater contribution can a facilitator make than to lay the foundations for a shared, mutually rewarding and engaging experience?
